Amy Van Arkel
Amy graduated from The University of Iowa in 2002 with a major in Health Promotion, emphasizing Health Education and a certification in personal training. In addition, she is a Certified Myoskeletal Alignment Therapist. She has worked at Agape Therapy for over five years as a Massage Therapist and Clinical Exercise Specialist. Amy started the personal training program at Agape Therapy with the goal being to target special populations; and using a clinical setting to bridging the gap from rehab to normal functional life. Her main professional interests are orthopedic massage and training special populations (such as low back pain, COPD, joint injuries etc.).
While at Iowa I played basketball and really enjoyed the science of the training and the rehab of injuries, which got me motivated to steer towards bodywork and personal training. Apart from work I love sports and the outdoors! Now I fill some of my competitive drive with coaching basketball. Pretty much I get an idea in my head of something to do or try and I just go do it. One of my favorite things, though simplistic, is just laughing really hard until only air comes out…that is some great therapy. Most importantly, I enjoy the church activities I am involved with and keeping my faith as a firm foundation that I lay everything else down on.
My hope is that the partnership of World Wide Fitness and Agape Therapy will be one of better benefit to the Cedar Valley. Being able to have much of your wellness needs in one spot is convenient but also helpful in maintaining a cohesive flow to your wellness needs.
I am excited to meet you!
